Building a science or technology start-up requires a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a solid business foundation. A solid foundation encompassing a detailed business development plan, a finance and funding strategy, as well as marketing and sales considerations will greatly support your future start-up efforts while potentially creating greater opportunities. In line with our company’s mission to support the vital processes underlying the development and commercialization of novel life science innovations into cutting-edge products and services, this educational initiative will serve to support science and technology entrepreneurs by providing a focused hands on workshop experience on the theory and implementation of key elements supporting new venture creation.
Financial Management Workshop: A critical corner stone of any start-up opportunity begins with solid financial and funding considerations. Whether it’s conducing financial due diligence/analysis, developing a funding strategy, or management of financial resources during the start-up process, finance is a key resource to any new venture. This workshop will focus on presenting those elements in the context of real world applications so as to best incorporate them into the foundation of your start-up plan. Light food and refreshments will be provided during the workshop.
This three hour intensive workshop will provide attendees an introduction into strategic business planning and financial management of science and technology focused ventures. The workshop will be comprised an initial presentation followed by hands on examples and applications and will conclude with a comprehensive wrap-up, general Q&A, closing comments and summary.

About the Instructor: Sulo Musyaju advises life science and technology businesses to evaluate new technologies, manage profitability, cash flow and internal controls. Previously, she directed finance and accounting operations of Stryker Development and her experience spans managerial and analytical roles at both publicly traded multinational companies as well as private and SBIR funded enterprises. Ms. Musyaju is also a member of Munevar & Associates, Inc., a life science technology development and commercialization consulting company where she serves as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Musyaju has been recognized as a Fulbright Scholar and holds her Masters in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University and a MBA from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Additionally, Ms. Musyaju currently serves as the Treasurer of the Medical Development Group.
